“Euskaltzaleen Topagunea organises and promotes an extensive variety of projects. They all have one thing in common: the Basque language. At the same time, they are very diverse in terms of objectives and target groups.
Our main goal is to promote the use of the Basque language, and to that end, we strive to have an impact on different areas of life, targeting different social groups and partnering with a range of stakeholders.”
Leisure time is a tool and a context for promoting the language. The aim is for the relationships forged in the course of the activities to be close and enriching, as well as reinforcing the language.
Languages are one of the principal cultural indicators, so we need to care for languages in order to maintain the world’s cultural diversity. Basque must be used as a language of cohesion.
The media network created by the movement is extensive, and produces and disseminates information in Basque from a local point of view.
We are all creators or addressees of culture and many times the spoken word is the primary meeting point between them. This relationship enriches the language and the speaker.
Projects to practise Basque, to coexist in Basque, with the aim of linking up with people who are not in the habit of this or are new Basque speakers.
